Shortly after 3 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, Cambridge police responded to reports of gunfire near Wood Street and Fairmount Avenue. Officers searching the area found the body of a young man in a wooded section along the 600 block of Edgewood Avenue. The victim was identified as 20-year-old Kevin Dwayne Raeford of Salisbury. An autopsy at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore confirmed the death as a homicide.
Investigators characterized the shooting as targeted and said there was no broader threat to the community. The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit handled the investigation. On September 30, 2022, authorities arrested 30-year-old Geett Cornish of Cambridge in Annapolis; Cornish was charged with multiple counts relating to Raeford’s killing, including first- and second-degree murder, assault counts, and numerous firearms offenses.
Did anyone in the Cambridge or Salisbury area see Kevin or have information about his movements that afternoon?
