Remi Jovan Howell was 29 when she was killed in Prince George’s County, Maryland. A mother of three and a Hyattsville resident, Howell was found at the edge of the Parkview Baptist Church parking lot in Landover on February 5, 2022, two days after she had been driven there and shot multiple times by her ex-boyfriend, Marcus Mitchell.

Investigators say Mitchell returned to the scene multiple times to make sure Howell was dead. He was arrested and charged with first- and second-degree murder; the seven-day trial included the murder weapon and clothing that matched surveillance footage. A jury convicted him of second-degree murder after four hours of deliberation.

Authorities also linked the firearm used in Howell’s slaying to another shooting: Kenneth Reddix was found with a gunshot wound in Landover on January 28, 2022, and later died. Does anyone have information about Howell’s life in Hyattsville or about what happened that weekend in Landover?
