On Friday afternoon, January 28, 2022, 32-year-old Kenneth Reddix of Beltsville was shot in the 7000 block of Kent Town Drive in Landover, Maryland. Police arrived at about 2:40 pm and found Reddix outside with a gunshot wound; he was taken to a nearby hospital and died several hours later.

Investigators identified a suspect known to Reddix and said the shooting appeared to arise from a dispute between the two men. A reward of up to $25,000 was offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment. Ballistic testing later linked the gun used to kill Reddix to a handgun recovered in a separate fatal, domestic-related shooting on February 5, 2022. The man identified as the suspect was 31-year-old Marcus Mitchell of Landover, who was already in custody on an unrelated murder charge when charged in Reddix’s death; detectives say the two killings are not believed to be connected.
