On the evening of December 16, 2021, 20-year-old Blake White of Accokeek was shot while seated in the driver’s seat of a BMW at the intersection of Stoney Creek Lane and Grayden Lane in Brandywine, Maryland. After being struck by gunfire the car accelerated and crashed into a nearby home; no one inside the house was harmed. White was taken to a local hospital and died of his injuries the following day.
Investigators later determined White was not involved in the dispute that led to the shooting. He and a passenger, Trenton Talley, had arrived to return a debit card when another person in their car engaged with occupants of a separate vehicle. Police identified 19-year-old Kevin Curtis Coleman of Washington, D.C., as the suspect. According to Talley’s account, Coleman fired multiple rounds into the fleeing car, one striking White in the head.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or had contact with White or his passenger that night is asked to share information.
