On the late afternoon of February 24, 2021, gunfire rang out in a residential block of Arnold Road in Suitland, Maryland. Patrol officers arriving around 5:30 p.m. found 15-year-old Rhyce Wingate-Bey, a male resident of nearby Washington, D.C., with gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital but died shortly thereafter.

Prince George’s County Police Homicide detectives canvassed the area and sought witnesses. Family members described Rhyce as kind and thoughtful and not involved in trouble. Neighbors reported hearing multiple shots; one said she and her granddaughter were inside their apartment when the shooting occurred. No motive has been determined and no suspects have been publicly identified.

Authorities are offering up to a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment. If anyone has information about what happened to Rhyce, please come forward to the Prince George’s County Police.
