Nakia Jamar Stewart Jr. was 21 when he was shot multiple times in a parking lot in the 2600 block of Shadyside Avenue in Suitland, Maryland, on the evening of Friday, January 29, 2021. The shooting happened at about 8:55 p.m. and Stewart was privately transported to a nearby hospital, where he died shortly afterward.

Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit opened an investigation and said early on they did not believe the shooting was random. Detectives have been working to establish what happened and identify a motive. A cash reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment, and authorities have asked anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit.
