Raymundo Estrella Moreno, 40, was fatally shot in the early morning hours of January 4, 2021, at the intersection of Riverdale Road and 54th Avenue in Riverdale, Maryland. Moreno was working as a taxi driver when officers responding about 1:30 a.m. found that he had suffered multiple gunshot wounds during an attempted carjacking. He was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Investigators determined the victim and the suspect were not known to each other. Detectives identified 24-year-old Brian Keith Peters of Southeast Washington, D.C., as the primary suspect; Peters was already in custody in Washington, D.C., on unrelated charges when he was linked to this case. The Prince George’s County Police Department charged him with first- and second-degree murder, carjacking, and robbery, and the vehicle involved in the carjacking was recovered.

No publicly released information about the outcome of the legal proceedings was provided. If anyone witnessed the attack or has information about Moreno’s movements that night, please come forward.
