German Ernesto Chavez-Moreno was 21 when he was last seen on June 16, 2003, in Mexicali, California, near the U.S.-Mexico border. He had been with a group of friends who were planning to cross into the United States without authorization. Chavez-Moreno is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, about 160 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. On the day he disappeared he was wearing a navy blue V-neck t-shirt, navy blue pants, and size 7.5 black shoes.

His family’s last sighting was in Mexicali and it is believed that the planned border crossing may have played a role in his disappearance. Since June 16, 2003 there have been no confirmed sightings, no contact, and no public leads reported; the case remains unsolved and is listed in NamUs. If anyone knew German, saw him around Mexicali that June, or has information about crossings in that area at the time, please share what is known.
