On the morning of November 18, 2020, officers responded to the 200 block of Taurus Drive in Fort Washington, Maryland, after a single-vehicle crash was reported. Inside the vehicle was 39-year-old Michael Sofidiya, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead shortly afterward.

Investigators focused on Michael’s younger brother, 37-year-old Malcolm Sofidiya of Fort Washington. Prince George’s County homicide detectives arrested Malcolm and charged him with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and additional firearms offenses. A court commissioner ordered him held without bond in Department of Corrections custody. Reports say the brothers had been together before the incident; a motive was not specified.

Michael is remembered by family and friends as easy-going, funny, and friendly. Does anyone who knew Michael or saw activity in the Taurus Drive area that night have information to share?
