Trevor Hamlet, 31, was fatally shot in the parking lot of his home on the 2000 block of Kelbourne Road in Rosedale, Maryland, on July 28, 2020. Earlier that day Hamlet, his brother Trent Alexander, his girlfriend Vanesia Gaskins, and a friend, Casey Pulley, had been at the Four Seasons Hotel in Baltimore City. An altercation at the hotel pool with another group that included Donwin Brooks reportedly became physical and included threats against Hamlet and his companions.
That evening the group stopped at a liquor store and then returned to Kelbourne Road. At about 7 p.m. an unknown assailant opened fire in the parking lot. Hamlet was hit multiple times, including a wound to the head and two to his lower chest; Pulley was also shot and was expected to survive. Hamlet was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead at 7:57 p.m.
Detectives later identified Lateef Maple as a suspect; a jury convicted him of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in connection with Hamlet’s death, and the conviction was affirmed on appeal. Has anyone with knowledge of the July 28 events or the people involved come forward with additional information?
