On July 18, 2020, patrol officers found 26-year-old Windy Robinson inside a vehicle stopped in the roadway in the 9200 block of Stuart Lane in Clinton, Maryland. She had sustained gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide Unit detectives treated the case as domestic-related and identified a suspect described as a former partner. Police named 25-year-old Donnell Mitchell of Harmans, Maryland, as the suspect. Within days Mitchell was located and taken into custody and charged with first- and second-degree murder and other related charges. A court commissioner ordered him held at the Department of Corrections on no bond. The motive was still under investigation.
