On the night of April 17, 2020, in Salisbury, Maryland, 33-year-old Dondre Wilson, also known as Dondre Maurice Dre, was shot and killed shortly before 11:00 p.m. The shooting happened in the 1000 block of Adams Avenue at an apartment complex where Wilson was reportedly delivering food to a resident.

Officers responding to 911 calls about shots being fired found Wilson inside his Hyundai Sonata after it had apparently crashed into a parked car and come to rest in a nearby wooded area. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene; an autopsy confirmed homicide by multiple gunshot wounds.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit led the investigation with assistance from the Salisbury Police Department and the Wicomico County State’s Attorney’s Office. Investigators identified four suspects — Dimarise Deshields, 22; Pierre Copes Jr., 23; Jaron Purnell, 19; and Torrey Brittingham, 21 — who were arrested and charged with first- and second-degree murder and other counts in late April and early May 2020 and held at the Wicomico County Detention Center.

If anyone has information about the shooting or saw activity in the 1000 block of Adams Avenue that night, please come forward.
