In the pre-dawn hours of November 1, 2019, 40-year-old Joshua Dwayne Crouse was shot and killed in Edgewood, Maryland. Harford County deputies on foot patrol heard a single gunshot around 3:19 a.m. near Grempler Way and Brookside Drive and found Crouse in the roadway of the 1800 block of Grempler Way with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. Deputies and medics attempted life-saving measures, but Crouse was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:50 a.m.
Investigators determined the shooting was a targeted incident that occurred after Crouse arranged to purchase a controlled dangerous substance from Anthony Martin, Jr., then 16. The two met at a Shell station in Edgewood and went to Grempler Way, where Martin, armed with an AR-15, attempted to rob Crouse and shot him. Witness descriptions and gas station surveillance helped identify the suspect.
Anthony Martin, Jr. was arrested in February 2020 and later charged with Crouse’s murder; in July 2021 he pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and was sentenced in August 2021. If anyone has information about Joshua Crouse, his movements that night, or the sale that brought him to Grempler Way, please share what is known.
