James Jim Duckett, 43, was found murdered in his Shelbyville, Kentucky, home in November 2008. A former military police officer who had moved to be near his sister, he was discovered in the bathroom bound to a kitchen chair, stabbed multiple times with his throat cut; an autopsy reportedly concluded he had been subjected to significant torture before death. His sister Katherine Nichols last spoke with him on Saturday, November 8 after shopping together and found him on Monday, November 10 when she checked on him.
Investigators from the Kentucky State Police noted a burglary at Duckett’s home a few weeks before the homicide. After the killing the perpetrator took Duckett’s truck and used his ATM card to withdraw cash. There have been no public arrests or identified suspects and the case remains unsolved.
Did anyone in Shelbyville remember seeing Duckett’s truck, or notice anything unusual around Rockbridge Road in early November 2008?
