In the early morning of April 14, 2019, 22-year-old Derrell White was shot and killed inside his Suitland, Maryland, home on the 3500 block of Maywood Lane. Police responded about 3:10 a.m. and found White with fatal gunshot wounds to his head and back; a second man, 25, was also shot and survived with non-life-threatening injuries.
The visitors then forced the two victims downstairs, robbed them and shot the surviving victim in the face before Wills shot White. The assailants fled and left behind a lighter that yielded DNA linked to Wills; the surviving victim later identified him at trial.
A jury found Derrick Wills guilty in July 2021 of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and related charges. The accomplice’s identity and whereabouts remain under investigation.
Did anyone in Suitland know Derrell White or have information about the assailant who fled the scene?
