An 18-year-old named Walter Eugene Thomas was killed during a late-night robbery in Waldorf, Maryland. On March 4, 2019, Thomas was walking with a friend on Fairchild Court when two people in a car announced a robbery. As Thomas tried to run, a suspect fired, and he collapsed on a bike path off Freemantle Court. He was pronounced dead in the early hours of March 5, 2019.
Detectives identified Michael Rashid Moore, 22, of Waldorf, and Darren Earl Miller, 24, of Washington, D.C., as suspects. Moore was already in custody after a separate Amber Leaf Place shooting the day before; while he was detained investigators linked him and Miller to Thomas’s death. In May 2019 both men were charged, including first-degree murder counts. In January 2020 Moore pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit the first-degree murder of Walter Thomas and admitted supplying the bullet and agreeing to a robbery planned to lead to shooting if the victim resisted.
Did anyone in the Waldorf area see activity on Fairchild Court or the bike path off Freemantle Court that night?
