On Friday afternoon, March 1, 2019, 29-year-old Robert Jerome Foreman of Suitland, Maryland, was driving on the Suitland Parkway when gunfire erupted as his car traveled in the outbound lanes between Naylor Road and Silver Hill Road. Foreman was struck while behind the wheel and a female passenger in the vehicle was also wounded. Responding officers found the stopped car in the roadway with both victims inside; both were taken to a local hospital and Foreman was pronounced dead on arrival.

The United States Park Police opened a homicide investigation after the shooting. The case remains unresolved with no publicly reported arrests or identified suspects.
