A neighborhood dispute in Riverdale, Maryland, ended in two deaths on the afternoon of Friday, October 26, 2018. Police responded to the 5000 block of Eastpine Drive after reports of gunfire and found 22-year-old Richard Arawole and 34-year-old Michael Gerard Bryant suffering from gunshot wounds; both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators concluded the violence began when Bryant confronted Arawole and his 23-year-old brother outside a neighbor’s home and produced a handgun. Bryant shot Richard Arawole, and Arawole’s brother returned fire, fatally wounding Bryant. The Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office worked with detectives and determined Arawole’s death was a homicide; the brother’s actions were ruled justified defensive force and he was not charged.
Are there neighbors or others who remember the confrontation or heard anything that afternoon?
