On the evening of April 24, 2018, 18-year-old William Riley Jr. of Howard County was found inside a vehicle in the 15800 block of Millbrook Lane in Laurel, Maryland, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Police were initially dispatched on a report of a car accident around 7:30 p.m., but determined Riley had been shot while in his car and, in an apparent attempt to flee his assailant, crashed into a parked vehicle. He was taken to Prince George’s Hospital Center and pronounced dead.
Authorities said a motive was not immediately clear but did not believe the shooting was random. Friends and family held a vigil at Hammond High School in Columbia and his family was presented with his high school football jersey. Five days after the killing, an arrest warrant was issued for 18-year-old Steven Jerome Clark Jr., and Clark was located and taken into custody on May 21, 2018, in Wilmington, North Carolina pending extradition to Maryland.
If anyone knew William or has information about what happened that night, please share what you know.
