Erica Lynn Gould, 30, was killed on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018, at her Salisbury, Maryland home. A substance abuse counselor and mother of three, she had just returned from church with her children when an argument with her ex-husband, Jameal Rashawn Gould, escalated into a violent confrontation witnessed by Erica’s sister and her 9-year-old son. Jameal, who was barred from possessing a firearm because of a prior federal drug conviction, produced a gun. After a misfire, Erica fled upstairs, but Jameal forced entry into a bedroom. Erica then climbed through a second-floor window onto an awning above the front porch, where she was shot multiple times. First responders found her on the roof with multiple upper-body gunshot wounds; she died later at a nearby hospital.
Jameal Gould fled the scene and was captured by police a few days later during a traffic stop in Salisbury. He was arrested on charges including first and second-degree murder, home invasion, assault, and firearm offenses. The trial record notes family members gave emotional testimony and the prosecution characterized the killing as an execution.
Did anyone in the Salisbury area see Erica or her children that day or notice a vehicle leaving the neighborhood?
