On the evening of July 18, 2017, 17-year-old Dustin Steven Khoury was found inside his car in the 1300 block of Larchdale Road in Laurel, Maryland, suffering from critical gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital and died shortly after. Khoury was a rising senior at Meade High School who worked two jobs and planned to attend college.
Police investigators concluded the shooting was not random and say Khoury had arranged to meet the suspects to conduct an illegal transaction. A passenger in Khoury’s car was uninjured. Within a week, three people were arrested and charged: 18-year-old Kalik Johnson of Laurel; 18-year-old Kylah Nettleton of Severn; and 17-year-old Darius Tarik Johnson of Upper Marlboro, who was charged as an adult. Charging documents say Nettleton told police she saw the two males get into a car with a teenager, heard shots, then saw them emerge with guns before she drove them away.
The family described Khoury as kind and motivated. Does anyone have information about the meeting that led to the shooting or about the people involved?
