On the evening of July 9, 2017, two men were killed in an alley between businesses in the 4600 block of Silver Hill Road in Suitland, Maryland. At about 7:20 p.m. gunfire struck 22-year-old Courtney Simms of Temple Hills and 23-year-old Anthony Douglas of Marlow Heights. Detectives treating the incident as a homicide said the shooting appeared to occur during an attempted robbery.
Surveillance footage captured the suspects’ vehicle and showed three men moving toward the victims. That footage helped lead investigators to identify and arrest one suspect within weeks. Nineteen-year-old Jharrod Armstrong of Northwest Washington was charged with first- and second-degree murder. Authorities later identified 27-year-old Robert Suesbury, also of Northwest Washington; a warrant was issued and he was taken into custody on the same charges. Police continued to seek the third man seen in the video in connection with the shootings.
If anyone has information about the third man or the events in the alley that night, please share what is known with investigators.
