On June 5, 2016, 48-year-old Edward Gregory Payne of Northeast Washington D.C. was found shot to death in the 4800 block of Stamp Road in Temple Hills, Maryland. Prince George’s County police answered a call at about 1:25 a.m. and discovered Payne with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives determined the shooting was not random and believed Payne was the intended target. Investigators offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment, but in the days after the killing no suspect or clear motive had been publicly identified.
Anyone who knew Edward Payne, saw activity near Stamp Road that night, or has information that could help the investigation is asked to come forward.
