On the afternoon of May 2, 2016, 22-year-old RaShaad Hargrave of Waldorf was found with gunshot wounds on a roadway in the 15100 block of General Lafayette Boulevard in the Brandywine neighborhood. First responders arrived about 1:50 p.m., but Hargrave’s injuries proved fatal and he was pronounced dead near a dead end by a wooded area.
Prince George’s County detectives treated the death as a homicide and canvassed nearby residents; some reported not hearing gunfire, prompting investigators to suggest the shooting may have been carried out stealthily. Early in the probe detectives developed a theory that a marijuana-related robbery escalated into the killing.
Within a week, authorities arrested three Brandywine residents — 21-year-old Rodney Nedd Jr., 22-year-old Antonio Howard Jr., and 19-year-old Aiden Hicks — each charged with first-degree murder and related offenses. Did anyone in Brandywine or Waldorf know Hargrave’s movements that afternoon or see anything suspicious near General Lafayette Boulevard?
