Shortly after 1:30 a.m. on April 26, 2016, a group standing outside on Hil Mar Drive in Forestville, Maryland, was struck by gunfire from a car that pulled up. Joanne Woods, 49 and a resident of District Heights, was fatally wounded at the scene; four other people were also shot and taken to area hospitals with injuries ranging from non-life-threatening to critical.

Prince George’s County Homicide Unit investigators treating the case believed the victims were targeted rather than randomly shot. A reward of up to $25,000 was offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment, but no arrests or suspect identifications have been publicly announced and the shooter who fled in the vehicle remains unidentified.
