Antonio David Truesdale was 25 when he was shot and killed in Essex, Maryland. On January 26, 2016, just before 2:00 a.m., Baltimore County Police responded to reports of a shooting in the unit block of Valley Arbor Court and found two men with gunshot wounds. Both were taken to hospitals; Truesdale, a resident of Sandstone Road, died of his injuries while the other victim survived and was released.

Police said Truesdale and the other man were involved in an interaction with two male suspects when at least one of the suspects opened fire. The Homicide Unit led the investigation, and authorities said there was no indication of a broader threat to the community. In July 2016 detectives identified and arrested 21-year-old Sadiq Torrez Heyward, who was charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder and held without bail. Investigators at that time were still seeking a second suspect.
