Seventeen-year-old Rakim Russell of Fruitland was killed after leaving a party at the Americas Best Value Inn in Salisbury on August 2, 2015. Russell, an upcoming senior at Wicomico High School, was struck in the head by gunfire just after midnight and later died at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.

Investigators say an earlier altercation at the party involved several people who left and then returned. Authorities identified 20-year-old Larry Allen Lamar Ennis of Salisbury and 18-year-olds Ky’Shir Tariq Connally and Jarrett Vaughn Stokes of Delmar as persons of interest; it was alleged Stokes fired a semi-automatic handgun about four times from the passenger seat of a white Chevrolet Impala, one bullet striking Russell and another entering an occupied hotel room.

All three were taken into custody days later by a U.S. Marshals fugitive task force and charged with murder and related offenses. Anyone who was at the hotel that night or has information about the shooting is asked to come forward.
