On the night of July 11–12, 2015, a large party in the 15700 block of Hickory Knoll Road in Accokeek, Maryland, drew several hundred people. Twenty-year-old Daryl Sylvester King Jr. of Waldorf left the gathering at about 1:00 a.m., and shortly afterward gunshots were heard. King was found outside with a gunshot wound, taken to a nearby hospital, and died a short time later.
Prince George’s County detectives opened a homicide investigation. Identifying witnesses has been difficult because the party was so large, and investigators sought to determine a motive and anyone who may have been involved in an altercation with King. In the days after the shooting the police and King’s family publicly appealed for information and offered a reward of up to $25,000 for tips leading to an arrest and indictment.
If anyone attended the party or has information about what happened to Daryl King Jr., please come forward with tips to the investigating agency.
