Richard Anthony Jackson was 26 when he was killed in Aberdeen, Maryland, on March 21, 2015. Deputies were sent to the Perrywood Garden Apartments on Mayberry Drive after an anonymous call reporting shots just before 3 a.m. They found Jackson in a common hallway with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body; he was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts.
Jackson had been visiting a friend in the complex but lingered to talk with others in a stairwell. Reports say he was confronted on a landing by a masked individual, that Jackson appeared familiar with the person, and that the suspect produced a handgun and shot him in the back of the head. Detectives later identified a person of interest who is reportedly incarcerated for an unrelated violent assault and was known to associate with Jackson, but no arrest in the murder has been announced.
Anyone who knew Jackson, who was at Perrywood Garden Apartments that night, or who has information about the person of interest is asked to come forward.
