Christopher Hagerman was 22 when he was found shot to death in a snowy field in Bowleys Quarters, Maryland, on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, not far from Seneca Elementary School. Investigators focused on the previous evening after learning Hagerman had been at a Wiltshire Road house in Essex where he rented the basement. Three other people were at the home that night, including 37-year-old Antoine Holmes.

A woman who lived in the house said Hagerman asked where he could get Percocet before he and Holmes left together. Charging documents say an interaction between Hagerman and Holmes escalated and ended with the fatal shooting. Holmes initially gave false information about his whereabouts that night but later said he was the only person with Hagerman in the early morning hours of Wednesday. He went to the mother of his child’s home to shower and requested bleach and a trash bag for his clothes, and later showed interest in news reports about the body’s discovery. Holmes was arrested and held without bail after waiving his right to appear at a bail hearing.
