In the early hours of May 17, 2011, gunfire rang out in the 600 block of Modoc Lane in Forest Heights, Maryland. Officers who responded around 1:50 a.m. found two men fatally shot: 32-year-old Okasha Cup Hawkins, who lived on the block, and 23-year-old Joshua Carrol of Southeast Washington. One victim was found lying in the street and the other in a nearby yard. A neighbor reported hearing two shots, a pause, then five or six more in quick succession.

Police described the scene as a double homicide; motive was not immediately clear and no suspects were publicly identified at the time. If anyone knew Okasha Cup Hawkins, saw activity on Modoc Lane that night, or has information that could help, please come forward.
