In the early morning hours of March 24, 2011, a burst of gunfire on Victory Lane in Suitland, Maryland, left 18-year-old Kyree Efrem Simms dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Two other people — a 20-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman — were also shot and survived. Simms was a resident of Southeast Washington, D.C., and was reported to have been awaiting the birth of his daughter at the time of his death.

Prince George’s County police identified 32-year-old Brian Hinkle of Northwest D.C. as a suspect and took him into custody. Authorities initially announced a murder charge in connection with Simms’s death, and Hinkle was also charged with firearm possession with a felony conviction. The final disposition of the murder charge and the ultimate outcome of the legal case are not publicly clear.

If anyone knew Kyree, was in Suitland that morning, or has information about the shooting, please share what is known with investigators.
