On the morning of June 11, 2010, 24-year-old Maryland State Trooper Wesley Washington John Brown was fatally shot in the parking lot of an Applebee’s on Donnell Drive in Forestville while working an off-duty security detail. Earlier that evening Trooper Brown had escorted a disruptive patron, identified as Cyril Cornelius Williams, out of the restaurant after the man reportedly urinated on another customer. Williams left, retrieved a firearm, returned, and shot Trooper Brown multiple times while the trooper was on his cell phone.
Surveillance photos and the subsequent investigation led to the identification and arrest of Williams, then 27, and an accomplice, Anthony Milton II. Both were charged with first-degree murder; police said Milton admitted accompanying Williams and participating in the killing. In February 2012 Williams was convicted of first-degree murder and on May 10, 2012 was sentenced to life without parole. Milton pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact.
Does anyone have memories of that night at the Applebee’s or information about the events leading up to the shooting?
