Alexis Pena Cuevas, 30, was found dead in the 6500 block of Jodie Street in New Carrollton, Maryland, in the early hours of December 4, 2009. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds; an autopsy reported three shots fired from more than two feet away and blunt-force lacerations and scrapes to his head and shoulder. The cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.
Investigators uncovered a backdrop of drugs, debt, and betrayal. Cuevas had been supplying cocaine on consignment to Jacqueline Hernandez, who bought from a supplier and whose boyfriend, Carl Jeffrey Johnson, is reported to have helped plan an abduction that ended in murder. A latent palm print from a nearby parked car was later matched to an individual connected to the case.
In January 2013 Hernandez pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit kidnaping and agreed to cooperate with the prosecution; her testimony described a plan to kill Cuevas and alleged that Johnson bragged about the assault and tried to dispose of an AK-47 and an AR-15. Does anyone have information about Cuevas, his movements that night, or the vehicle seen near Jodie Street?
