Donte L. Kearney was 21 when he was shot and killed in Temple Hills, Maryland, on Thursday, August 13, 2009. Known to family and friends as Tay, he was remembered as energetic, positive, and a peer leader who often spoke on behalf of others.

Donte was the son of Tonya Kearney and the grandson of Gloria J. and the late Rev. Dr. John H. Kearney, Sr. He is survived by siblings Precious and Xavier Robinson and numerous other relatives who attended funeral services on Friday, August 21, 2009, at Matthews Memorial Baptist Church; he was buried at Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
