Sean Nicholas Green, a 31-year-old Black man and IT professional for a national security contractor, was fatally shot on the evening of November 12, 2008. He was driving a black Cadillac DeVille near his Capitol Heights area home and stopped at a red light at St. Barnabas Road and Virginia Lane in Oxon Hill when a masked gunman in a black hooded jacket approached and fired nine shots into the driver’s side, striking Green multiple times in the head. The attacker fled on foot during rush hour with witnesses present; nothing was taken from the vehicle and no robbery was attempted.
Police describe the killing as appearing targeted rather than random. Investigators also looked for possible links to the unsolved killing of another national security professional, Kanika Powell, two and a half months earlier, but no definitive connection has been established. Jason Scott, arrested in 2009 for unrelated home invasion murders, has been mentioned in connection to Powell’s case but has not been tied to Green’s death. No arrests have been made and the murder weapon was never recovered.
Does anyone have information about Green, his movements that night, or suspicious activity near St. Barnabas Road and Virginia Lane?
