Shawn Antione Zanders was 24 when he was shot and killed in Capitol Heights, Maryland, on September 20, 2007. The shooting occurred in the pre-dawn hours, reported around 5:01 a.m., along the 6800 block of Central Avenue in the 20743 area. Responding units found Zanders with fatal gunshot wounds; the scene was secured and questions remained as neighbors and investigators confronted a sudden loss.

A Washington Post death notice named him as the son of Wendy A. Zanders and noted a memorial service held October 6, 2007, at Stewart Funeral Home on Benning Road in Washington, D.C.

Did anyone in Capitol Heights at that time see or hear anything that could help explain what happened that morning?
