Michael Morris was 51 when he was killed on July 24, 2007, in a Clinton, Maryland neighborhood. According to accounts, a dispute among neighborhood children — reportedly over a video game — escalated during the day and drew in adults. Morris, who lived in a basement apartment on the 8200 block of Bellefonte Lane and was known locally as a peacemaker and mentor to children, came out to try to mediate.

That evening the conflict intensified. Witnesses said people connected to one of the parties returned to settle the score; Morris was reportedly beaten and then shot in the head at close range. He was taken to a hospital and died several hours later. Prince George’s County police identified suspects and arrested three people in connection with the killing: 27-year-old Dedrea Parham of Bellefonte Lane, 21-year-old Michelle Dow, and 21-year-old Marcus Dow. Marcus Dow was arrested in Newburgh, New York, and was awaiting extradition; the other two were held without bail.

Does anyone in the Clinton area remember Michael or have information about the events that night?
