Christopher White, 35, was fatally shot in Elmira, New York, on the evening of April 14, 2021. Officers found him in the street on Park Place with gunshot wounds after an incident reported around 10:15 p.m. He was taken to Arnot Ogden Medical Center and died of his injuries. Reports say the shooting occurred as White was fleeing from his assailant, running from West Fifth Street onto Park Place.

Elmira Police identified 40-year-old Lawrence J. Williams of Elmira as a suspect. On May 14, 2021, a multi-agency, two-hour pursuit that crossed state and county lines ended with Williams’s arrest; he was held in Bradford County Jail before being extradited to New York to face charges including second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
