Alvin Goodlataw, 38, went to a remote hunting camp near the Chitina River in Glennallen, Alaska, in the winter of 1977. On February 6 he was flown to a cabin in the upper river area to look after horses and was left with provisions, horse feed, personal belongings, and food. That was the last time anyone is known to have seen him.
Sometime after he was dropped off the horse owner returned and found Alvin missing. A formal report was made on March 9, 1977, and the Alaska State Troopers searched the camp and surrounding terrain by ground and air but found no trace. In October 1979 a jury legally presumed him dead of undetermined causes. Court filings in a later wrongful death suit noted a history of alcohol abuse, but no physical evidence, witnesses, or remains have ever been recovered.
What can anyone who knew Alvin or who was in the Chitina River area in early 1977 add to this unresolved disappearance?
