In the early hours of a Thursday in July 2019, Timothy J. Oldorff, a 50-year-old Cobleskill resident, was found at a home on Lamont District Road with a gunshot wound to the back of his head. State Police discovered him and he was airlifted to Albany Medical Center, where he later died.

A 17-year-old was arrested soon after and charged with felony assault, criminal use of a firearm and misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon. The youth was identified as the victim’s adopted son, Ryan Oldorff, who attended Cobleskill High School and split time between the homes of his separated adoptive parents. Prosecutors later said a .22-caliber rifle was used to shoot Timothy while he was sleeping.
