On a summer evening in Utica, New York, 17-year-old Stefan Medina was found on the 700 block of Elizabeth Street with a gunshot wound on Sunday, August 19, 2018. Emergency responders transported him to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries.
Utica Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit investigated, and an 18-year-old Utica resident, Jorge Campos, was arrested in connection with the shooting. In October 2018 an Oneida County Grand Jury indicted Campos on manslaughter, criminal possession of a weapon, and drug possession; he pleaded not guilty and was held in the Oneida County Jail. Police described the investigation as ongoing, with the possibility of additional charges.
If anyone has information about Stefan’s death or remembers seeing activity on Elizabeth Street that night, share what you know with investigators.
