On March 24, 2018, 23-year-old Ravino Bailey of Uniondale was found after a single-car crash at Boylston and Chamberlain streets in Hempstead, New York. Police responding to a 911 call discovered Bailey with a stab wound to his chest; he was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead less than an hour later. Investigators determined the stabbing occurred at a Dartmouth Street residence, a couple of blocks from the crash site, and that the crash was Bailey’s attempt to get help after being attacked.

The night before the killing, March 23, Bailey had an altercation with 24-year-old Shavon Goins, who reportedly threatened to kill him. In the early hours of March 24 Goins returned, kicked in the door of the Dartmouth Street home and stabbed Bailey twice with a kitchen knife, once in the arm and once in the chest. Goins then fled the state and was later located and arrested in Alabama; prosecutors said the motive was a romantic rivalry.

Anyone with information about Bailey, his movements that night, or who knew him is asked to come forward.
