On the morning of March 1, 2018, in Yonkers, New York, 36-year-old Timothy Conkling was beginning his workday as a driver for a private carting company. As he stepped into his truck on Ashburton Avenue at about 10:50 a.m., he was struck by a single gunshot to the head and was found lifeless at the scene.
Police identified Heriberto Morales as the shooter, who fired from a window in an apartment adjacent to the parking lot where the truck was parked. Yonkers police used video surveillance to reconstruct the events and track Morales’s movements, and he was arrested the same day. A Westchester County Grand Jury later indicted Morales on multiple charges, including Murder in the Second Degree.
Conkling, described as a devoted husband and father from Montrose, left behind a wife and two daughters; his death occurred just days before one daughter’s 17th birthday. If anyone knew Timothy or saw activity near Ashburton Avenue that morning, please share what was seen.
