LaDaniel McCloud, 23, was found with multiple gunshot wounds on a Laurel Street sidewalk in Hempstead, New York, in the early morning of July 2, 2016. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at 5:55 a.m. after being called to the scene around 5:41 a.m.

Within days Nassau County police arrested two Hempstead residents: 17-year-old Manuel Howe, charged with second-degree murder, and 25-year-old Delroy Carter, charged with hindering prosecution. Both were scheduled to be arraigned at the First District Court in Hempstead. Courtroom emotion ran high as McCloud’s family accused Howe of being a murderer, and a physical altercation between the families broke out after the appearance, requiring officers to intervene.

Authorities suggested the shooting may have been related to a dispute over drugs. Four months later, McCloud’s older brother was shot and wounded in the same neighborhood. If anyone has information about LaDaniel McCloud’s killing or the events leading up to it, please come forward.
