Jose Omar Sanchez, 30, was shot and killed outside 832 Bridge Street in Schenectady after a dispute over a $250 debt. Authorities described the killing as an execution; Sanchez was struck more than a dozen times by rounds from an assault rifle. Neighbors in the Mont Pleasant community were left shaken and local law enforcement opened a thorough investigation.

Alex Rodriguez, 35, a onetime friend whose children were acquainted with Sanchez’s children, was apprehended and charged with second-degree murder. Sanchez’s brother, Victor Sanchez, 28, was later charged with hindering apprehension after allegedly locking Jose’s cellphone and thereby preventing police access to potential evidence. Victor was also stabbed in the back and chest at the shared Bridge Street home.

Rodriguez was held without bail pending further court proceedings. Does anyone in the area remember seeing tensions between Sanchez and Rodriguez before the shooting or have information about the events that night?
