Shawn Boone, 26, was shot and killed while sitting in a car with his girlfriend on Princeton Street in Hempstead, New York, at about 1:20 a.m. on July 5, 2014. He was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound during the Fourth of July holiday weekend. The Nassau County Police Homicide Squad investigated and developed evidence tying a man from nearby Roosevelt to the crime.
Investigators found the suspect’s fingerprints on the exterior of the driver-side door, surveillance video showed a man approach the vehicle, enter, then flee, and the interior of the car had been wiped down. Ballistic testing later linked a Smith & Wesson snub-nose revolver reported stolen in 1971 to the fatal shooting. A grand jury indicted Tayquan Clark in December 2014 on murder and related charges; he was later convicted and sentenced.
Did anyone in the Hempstead area see activity on Princeton Street that night or have information about the suspect’s movements before or after the shooting?
