James Henderson, 49, a Black man, was shot and killed inside a home at 1102 Hendee Street in New Orleans on December 13, 2014. Police records list the call time at about 9:30 p.m. and log the incident under case number L-15654-14. Henderson was found on the kitchen floor with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

In the weeks after the killing the case remained open with no suspect identified and no arrest recorded in the department’s 2014 homicide roster. An obituary published days later remembered Henderson as a son, father, grandfather, brother, and devoted companion and named surviving family and the funeral home handling arrangements.
