Julian Bynum, 30, was shot to death on December 16, 2022, in the 6800 block of Simpson Avenue in North Hollywood, California. He was found on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds to the head and died at the scene. The location was a few blocks from the LAPD’s North Hollywood station.

Bynum was visiting from Chicago at the time. He had a past Cook County arrest for possession of a stolen firearm in 2012, but that did not produce immediate leads in his killing. The LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division opened an investigation into the homicide.

Charges in a related probe named Dejean Thompkins and two others for multiple counts of murder and attempted murder tied to a separate Beverly Crest incident, and Thompkins was also implicated in Bynum’s shooting outside the Simpson Avenue apartment complex. The defendants face special circumstance allegations including lying in wait and multiple murders; legal proceedings are ongoing.

Did anyone in North Hollywood see activity near the 6800 block of Simpson Avenue on the night of December 16, 2022?
