Bilal Bin Abdullah, a 43-year-old Winnetka resident, was shot multiple times inside his home in the 20000 block of Sherman Way on November 27, 2022. He was confronted by a male suspect in an upstairs bedroom; the suspect fled in a red or maroon sedan and Abdullah died at the scene before paramedics arrived.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Bureau Homicide detectives investigated and identified 38-year-old Tony Ross as the primary suspect. An arrest warrant was issued and Ross was taken into custody on November 30, 2022, by the LAPD/FBI Fugitive Task Force in the Canyon County area. He was charged with Abdullah’s murder and held at Van Nuys Jail with bail set at $2,000,000. Detectives said the suspect entered the home intending to confront Abdullah, but the motive remained unclear.
